This unusually large and luxurious, exquisitely decorated,
and perfectly located modern French-style apartment offers
spaciousness, comfort, distinction and safety for your
trip.
It is located in a small luxury building with 24-hour
manned security on Avenida Callao, one of BA's emblematic
avenues, in the city's most desirable neighborhood, Recoleta.
Within a half-dozen short blocks from the apartment are
the best shopping (Patio Bullrich, Avenida Alvear, most
of Recoleta's boutiques), all of BA's grandest hotels
(Alvear Palace, Four Seasons, Palacio Duhau-Park Hyatt),
Recoleta Cemetery, Recoleta Village cinema, and several
of BA's most beautiful urban parks. The immediate area
abounds in cafes, bakeries, neighborhood restaurants,
supermarkets, and all types of specialized food markets
and fresh fruit and vegetable stands.
The apartment occupies an entire floor. There's a private
vestibule off the main elevator before the front entrance
of the apartment, and a separate service elevator and
entrance for deliveries.
Although the apartment is modern, the old French style
of Buenos Aires is present throughout: deep crown molding
in all rooms and hallways; richly patterned hardwood flooring
in the living room, dining room and all hallways; wide,
molded, dark wood baseboards; detailed picture-frame molding
on all doors (even the closets and kitchen pantries).
This ULTRA LUXURY apartment has been lovingly and carefully
decorated for private use, with a mixture of antique and
modern furnishings, nearly two dozen oriental rugs, authentic
tapestries, and original art throughout. It perfectly
melds the elegance and sophisticated taste of the Buenos
Aires of yesterday with the modern design and comfort
of the BA of today. The owner is an artist, and much of
the original art in the apartment is hers. The furniture
and furnishings include many pieces made by local artisans
or handed down as heirlooms, effortlessly integrated with
touches of the most modern (e.g., ultra-modern black leather
Italian chairs matched to a glass-topped dining table
with a fine-grained Biedermeier revival base).
The apartment has two completely distinct areas. In the
front, facing Avenida Callao, are the entrance hallway,
powder room, living room and formal dining room (with
a sitting area separating them), kitchen and breakfast
room, and laundry room. From this front area, a hallway
of nearly 30 meters (nearly 100 feet), broken half-way
by a wide, light-filled sitting area, leads to the rear,
which overlooks gardens. Here are found two full bedroom
suites, a third full bath, and a paneled library, all
opening off a central distribution hallway.
Absolute peace and quiet reigns in the rear where the
bedroom suites are located, allowing everyone to sleep
as if in the country. This is a rare luxury in a noisy
city like BA.
Each bedroom suite has a large bedroom with queen-sized
bed and two bedside night tables, a separate dressing
room with extensive closets and built-in shelving and
drawers behind doors, and a full bath with glass enclosure
for the tub and shower. The larger suite also has a spacious
sitting room with even more closets and built-ins, and
a double vanity in the bath. Bed and bath linens are ample
and high quality.
In addition to two elegant wooden desks (one built-in)
and a full wall of bookcases, the library has a sofa bed
that will sleep two people, who could easily use the third
full bath, which opens off the central hallway two steps
away from the door to the library. They would enjoy complete
privacy, since the two bedroom suites can be closed off
by shutting their entry door to the central hallway.
The floors of the bedrooms, dressing rooms, and library
are quality wall-to-wall carpeting topped with half a
dozen oriental rugs, for maximum comfort and quiet.
Balconies running the width of the building overlook Avenida
Callao in the front and the gardens in the back. Glass
French-style double doors lead onto the respective balconies
from the living room, dining room, and both bedrooms.
The front balcony provides spectacular views of the architecture
of Avenida Callao, and the lively avenue itself, all the
way to Avenida Alvear in one direction and to Avenida
Santa Fe in the other. The rear balcony is perfect for
quiet early morning or late afternoon moments with nature.
The extremely spacious, bright kitchen is white with chrome
finishings, granite countertops, track lighting and under-cabinet,
counter-top lighting. It is equipped with refrigerator/freezer,
dishwasher, gas stove and oven, countertop electric oven,
microwave, coffee maker, toaster, blender, and all cooking
utensils, dishes, silverware, glasses and so forth. There
is a large, separate breakfast area that seats four.
The laundry room is equipped with separate washing machine
and dryer, iron and ironing board, and clotheslines.
The apartment includes Broadband Internet and WiFi (wireless)
service, cable TV service, two TVs (a 20" Sharp LCD
in the library and 27" Samsung flat-screen in the
larger bedroom suite), multi-zone DVD, Bose radio and
CD player, two other portable radios, and multiple telephones.
Every room has individually controlled air conditioning.
There is in-floor radiant heating with individually controlled
zones in the front and rear areas of the apartment.
This wonderful apartment is ideal for both short stays
and long-term living.
